Vishnu Namboodiri\, Assistant Professor\, Department of History \nConcept Note \nThe field of higher education in India is undergoing significant transformation with the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. A key initiative under this framework is the Malaviya Mission\, introduced by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to enhance faculty development\, institutional governance\, and academic excellence in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). \nRecognizing the relevance of this initiative\, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC)\, Mar Thoma College\, Tiruvalla\, is organizing a session to examine the objectives and scope of the Malaviya Mission and its implications for higher education. \nAbout the Malaviya Mission \nThe Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme seeks to equip educators with the necessary skills and knowledge to meet the evolving demands of the higher education sector. This initiative focuses on: \nFaculty training and pedagogical advancements \nInstitutional governance and academic leadership \nMultidisciplinary education and curriculum enhancement \nDigital and technology-driven learning frameworks \nInclusivity in higher education and student engagement \nResearch and skill development for contemporary academic challenges \nTo implement these objectives\, 111 Malaviya Mission Centres have been established across the country\, replacing the earlier Human Resource Development Centres (HRDCs).
