About the Speaker
Dr. M. G. Sasibhooshan is a preeminent historian and art historian, widely recognized for his extensive research on South Indian temple architecture, mural traditions, numismatics, and Kerala’s religious heritage. His scholarship, which spans over three decades, has provided critical insights into the artistic and ritualistic practices that define Kerala’s cultural landscape.
A prolific writer and researcher, Dr. Sasibhooshan has studied over 300 temples, contributing to their historical documentation and preservation. His expertise is sought after by prestigious institutions, including the Kerala Sahitya Akademi, Kerala Kalamandalam, and the Numismatic Society of India. Through his works, he continues to shape contemporary understandings of Kerala’s antiquities and artistic traditions.
Prof. P. S. Zachariah: A Scholar, Educator, and Visionary
Prof. P. S. Zachariah, former Head of the Department of History at Mar Thoma College, Tiruvalla, is a distinguished academician, historian, and philanthropist. Renowned for his erudition and pedagogical excellence, he has mentored generations of students, instilling in them a profound appreciation for historical inquiry and critical thinking.
Beyond academia, Prof. Zachariah has been an active force in numerous scholarly and social organizations, working towards the advancement of education and historical research. As a Governing Council Member of Mar Thoma College, his vision continues to shape the institution’s academic pursuits.
In 2023, he instituted the Prof. P. S. Zachariah Endowment Lecture, a prestigious academic forum dedicated to fostering historical scholarship and intellectual engagement. This annual lecture serves as a testament to his unwavering commitment to advancing historical discourse.
