PG & Research Department of Botany, Mar Thoma College is celebrating Vana Mahotsavam week from July 1 – 7, 2024. This week-long festival aims to encourage people to stop deforestation and adopt deforestation to protect and preserve our planet Earth.
In our lives, trees play essential roles; people plant trees on this day. We almost always have everything we need in forests. We get oxygen, medicine, food and other essential resources from forests. The purpose of this celebration is to raise awareness of the value of plants and to encourage reforestation.
In connection with celebrations, the department organizes online photography, essay writing and poster making competitions for High School, Higher Secondary and College students I Kerala. The first, second and third place winners will get a chance to participate in a three day Nature Camp which will be held in any one of the forest or wildlife Sanctuary or National Park in Kerala.
