Annual Alumni Meeting

After the registration of members, the meeting commenced at 10:00 a.m. in the college auditorium. Dr. Mathew Varkey T. K., Principal of Mar Thoma College, Tiruvalla, presided over the meeting. Dr. Susan Thomas, Head of the Department of Zoology, delivered the welcome address.This was followed by a felicitation session by former faculty members of the department, including Prof. A. Abraham, Dr. M. I. Andrews, Prof. George Thomas, Dr. Mercy Mathew, Dr. K. T. Philip, Prof. Koshy Thomas, and Prof. Johnson M. Samuel.A self-introduction session followed, during which alumni introduced themselves, and some shared fond memories of their time on campus. Students from batches ranging from 1971 to the most recent batch of 2025 were present. Notably, the distinguished alumnus and Malayalam film director, Sri. Blessy Ipe Thomas, shared his experiences and memories of the college.The event continued with the release of the 47th volume of the department magazine, “OYSTER,” by Prof. A. Abraham. This was followed by the distribution of proficiency prizes instituted by esteemed teachers—Late Prof. C. T. Mathew, Late Prof. Sally George, Prof. A. Abraham, and Dr. M. I. Andrews—for the best outgoing B.Sc. and M.Sc. students.Subsequently, various awards were distributed for contributions to OYSTER for the year 2025–26. A business session was then held, during which Dr. Sunitha A. Philip, Secretary of the Alumni Association, presented the report for the year 2025 and oversaw the election of the executive committee members for 2026.Finally, Dr. Sunitha A. Philip proposed the vote of thanks, and the meeting concluded at 1:30 p.m.
