Commerce

The Department of Commerce was instituted in the year 1980 with Pre-degree Course. It started B. Com in the year 2001 with B.Com (Vocational) and subsequently added B.Com (Finance and Taxation) in the year 2014.

The department offers two undergraduate programmes.

  1. B. Com. – Model II – Computer Applications
  2. B. Com. – Model I – Taxation

Commerce Association

The Department has an active commerce association, which keeps on recharging students with lots of activities and programmes including curricular and extra-curricular. The association is functioning under an elected executive committee consisting of the President, Secretary, Treasurer and two class representatives from every class. The club has been successfully conducting quizzes, debates and discussions on regular basis. The commerce association notice board is serving as a good platform for students to showcase their talents and exhibit their knowledge. Commerce club is also publishing an electronic journal named “The COM-BUZ”

The activities of the Commerce Association (Commerce Club), for the year 2019-20, was inaugurated by Prof. Dr Bino Joy, Head of the Department of Commerce, Govt College, Kottayam. The association also organized an idea incubation programme to train students in entrepreneurial activities.

Student Skill Acquisition Club

The objective of the student skill acquisition club is to enculturate various soft skills among students for shaping their bright careers.

HAND

HAND is another imitative of commerce department which is formed to help the needy students and people both in college and society.

The various activities under the initiative of this department are as below:
