“Atheism and Religion” – Union of Evangelical Students of India

At Mar Thoma College in Tiruvalla, on August 31, 2024; the Union of Evangelical Students of India (UESI) arranged a discussion on the subject of “Atheism and Religion”. There were about 200 students present for the event, which took place in the Seminar Hall. The Presidential Address was given by Dr. Mathew Varkey T. K., Principal, who emphasized the value of candid discussion on subjects like faith and belief systems. Dr. Arun Vinod gave a brief synopsis of Mr. James Varghese IAS’s career and areas of specialization before introducing him as the keynote speaker. After that, Mr. Varghese gave the major speech, which examined the connection between atheism and religion. His observations provoked the pupils’ critical thinking and provided a well-rounded viewpoint that took into account a variety of viewpoints. Mr. James Varghese further enhanced the discussion by responding to questions from the students during the interactive session that followed the program.
