The AZADI KA AMRUT MAHOTHSAV being organized in the country, as part of the 75^th Independence Day celebrations, was taken up with much vigour and enthusiasm in Mar Thoma College.

Various programmes were organized in the college from August 10^th 2022 to August 15^th 2022.

1. Freedom WallThe ‘Freedom Wall’ was painted in the college showcasing prominent leaders, freedom fighters and important events leading to the Independence of the Nation. The venture was completed in three days from 10^th to 12^th of August 2022, under the leadership of Dr John Berlin, Programme Officer, NSS Unit and students from various departments especially Ms Janvi Mary Sam, Ms Gowri Nandana K, Ms Shalini Jayakumar, Ms Megha Elsa Georgy, Mr Abhijith S, Ms Anavadhya I, Ms Shini Elvin Philip, Ms Shwetha Mary Abraham, Mr Sudhi S and Ms Sruthy J.
2. Elocution Competition
   An Elocution Competition was held in the college on 11^th August, 2022, which was instrumental in helping students to voice out their concerns about the nation and also to ponder over the developments we have made in the last seven decades. The programme was hosted by the NSS Unit of the college which is spearheaded by Dr John Berlin, Dr Varghese PJ and Dr Elizabeth George.
3. Flash Mob , Mime , Group Dance:  The NCC unit of the college organized a Flash mob, a mime and a group dance event in the College quadrangle at 12.30 pm on Friday 12^th August, 2020. The programmes depicted various events of historical importance and celebrated the nationalistic fervour in all its essence.
4. Public Meeting
   A talk on ’75 years of Independence’ was hosted by the Department of History on 12^th of August 2022 at 1 pm in the College Open Air Stage. It was coordinated by Dr Mathew Sam, Mr Vishnu Namboodiri and Mr Agney G K. Mr Varghese George (Former Chairperson, Plantation Corporation) and Adv Mathew T Thomas MLA, led the sessions. The programme was well attended by staff and students.
5. Azadi Rally
   A grand procession – Azadi Rally proclaiming the 75^th anniversary of Indian Independence was flagged off from the College at 2: 00 pm on 12^th of August, 2022. The Azadi rally was coordinated by the Principal Dr Varughese Mathew and led by Dr Reginald Varghese (Ward Councillor, Tiruvalla Municipality). The NCC and NSS volunteers were the event managers and they coordinated the show successfully. All the Subject Associations participated in the procession. The students and teachers made the rally colourful by their creative participation. Students adorned the traditional attires of various states including Kashmir, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and also dressed up as famous personalities like Gandhiji, Nehru, Dr Ambedkar, Mangal Pande. Placards proclaiming the glories of the nation were carried and slogans celebrating the unity and diversity of the country resonated through the streets.
