Blood Stem Cell Donation Awareness Programme

The NSS Units of Mar Thoma College, Tiruvalla, in collaboration with DKMS Foundation India, organized an Awareness Programme on Blood Stem Cell Donation followed by a Registration Drive on 11th June 2025 at the College Seminar Hall.The programme commenced with a welcome speech by Rikhitha R (NSS volunteer). The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. Mathew Varkey T.K., Principal,Mar Thoma College,who emphasized the importance of such life-saving initiatives in creating socially responsible citizens.The session was led by Mr. Rohit Rajiv, a representative of DKMS Foundation, who provided valuable insights into the significance of blood stem cell donation, its procedures, and the life-saving potential it holds, especially for patients suffering from blood cancer and other life-threatening blood disorders. He also explained the step-by-step registration process and eligibility criteria for donors.The event witnessed the active participation of NSS Programme Officers – Dr. P.J. Varghese, Dr. Anitha George Varghese, and Dr. Sreelatha P.V. – along with numerous NSS volunteers, all of whom showed keen interest and enthusiasm throughout the session.The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by NSS volunteer Aditya C.
