Bridge Course in Electrodynamics
Department of Physics, Mar Thoma College, Tiruvalla, as a part of its Diamond Jubilee Celebrations, has organised a Bridge Course in Electrodynamics, in association with the Academy of Physics Teachers Kerala on 30th and 31st August 2019.
Bridge courses are designed to fill the apparent gap between undergraduate and post-graduate courses. Topics in the latest PG syllabus are discussed, with a specific focus on the basic concepts and problem-solving skills. Students get ample opportunity for quality interactions with eminent academics in the field and gain a platform to continue clarification on doubts. They are also visualized to facilitate effective preparation for various competitive exams such as NET, GATE etc.
The bridge course in Electrodynamics was inaugurated by Dr. M. O. Koshy, Former Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Kannur University on August 30, 2019 at 9 am. The inaugural function was presided over by the Principal, Dr. Icy K. John. Dr. Samuel Mathew, HOD welcomed the gathering, and Prof. Santhosh Jacob, Convenor of the course proposed a vote of thanks.
About 70 students from various colleges and university departments in Kerala have participated in the course. Dr. Jimmy Sebastian, Assistant Professor, SH College, Thevara, and Dr. Pramod Dominic, Assistant Professor, UC College, Aluva were the resource persons. Topics in Electrodynamics as per M. Sc. Physics syllabus of Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam were dealt with in the course and a good number of problems were discussed and solved. Dr. Noble P. Abraham was the course coordinator and Mr. Vineeth S., Research Scholar has served as the course assistant. The course concluded at 4 pm on 31st August 2019.
