Eminent Guest Lecture Series 4

A one-day lecture on “The Role of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Biological Research” was organized at Mar Thoma College. The event was organised Department of Biosciences of the college. Dr. Eapen Daniel, an alumnus of the college and a senior researcher at the University of Pennsylvania, USA, delivered the keynote address. He explained how AI has become an indispensable component in every field — from analyzing genetic information to the discovery of new drugs. “The ability of AI to handle the most complex and large-scale biological datasets and to extract meaningful patterns from them is what accelerates today’s research,” said Dr. Eapen Daniel.
The inaugural session held at the college seminar hall was presided over by the Principal, Dr. Mathew Varghese T. K. Mr. Thomas Koshy, College Treasurer, Prof. Renosh Tom Varghese, Head, Department of Botany, Prof. Thomas Mathew, Director, Biosciences and Program Convener Dr. Helen Raisa Lal also spoke at the event. In connection with the program, the Department of Biosciences also released its new journal “BioVerve.”
