English Literary Association (ELA) – Silent Protest

The English Literary Association (ELA), under the leadership of Dr. Susan Thomas (HOD) and Prof. Jijo John Varghese( ELA president) organized a silent protest against the heinous murder of a female resident doctor in Kolkata. The protest was held on 22nd August 2024, from 9:20a.m, at the college gate.

The protest was attended by teachers and students of the department, who gathered to condemn the brutal crime. Students created placards with slogans and held them up, while also staged a tableau at the premise of the main campus.

The silent protest lasted for 15 minutes, during which the participants stood in solidarity, expressing their outrage and demanding justice for the victim.

The event was a success, thanks to the collective efforts of the department. The silent protest served as a powerful statement against violence and a testament to the department’s commitment to promoting a culture of respect, empathy, and human rights.
