Environment Day Celebration Chemistry

The Chemistry Association’s inaugural ceremony and Environment Day celebration were held on June 7, 2024, at the mini-Conference Hall of Mar Thoma College, Tiruvalla. The event was marked by the presence of esteemed faculty and enthusiastic students. The ceremony commenced with a warm welcome speech by Mrs. Sereen Thomas, President of the Chemistry Association. She extended her heartfelt greetings to all attendees and set the tone for the day’s proceedings. Dr. Ajesh K. Zachariah, Head of the Department of Chemistry, delivered the presidential address. He highlighted the significance of the Chemistry Association and its role in fostering academic and research activities within the department.

Environment Day Message

Prof. Dr. Neeta R. Nair, the Principal in-charge, conveyed an inspiring message on World Environment Day. She emphasized the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable practices, urging everyone to contribute to a greener planet.

Inauguration and Chief Guest’s Address

The highlight of the event was the inauguration of the Chemistry Association 2024 by the chief guest, Dr. Dickson D. Babu, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, St. Thomas College, Kozhencherry. Dr.Dickson delivered an enlightening speech on “Hydrogen Unleashed: Breaking Bonds for Sustainable Energy.” He engaged with the students in a stimulating discussion and motivated them to pursue research in the field of chemistry. The technical session was moderated by Dr. Reenamole G. She facilitated an interactive and informative session, encouraging students to develope deeper into the subject matter. The Chemistry Association was felicitated by Dr. Josmin P. Jose, IPG class in-charge, and Dr. Surya Philip, IIDC class in-charge. Their words of encouragement and support were greatly appreciated by the association members. The Association Secretary, Ms. Devapriya R., delivered the vote of thanks. She expressed gratitude to all the dignitaries, faculty members, and students for their participation and contribution to the success of the event. As a part of Environment Day celebration students of Chemistry association distributed seed balls and trees.

Reel Making Competition: In celebration of Environment Day, the Chemistry Association organized a reel-making competition on the theme “Land Restoration, Desertification, and Drought Resilience” under the slogan “Our Land, Our Future.” The competition was open to all students of Mar Thoma College. The reels were shared through Instagram with the tag Tag -@ chemistry_mtctiruvalla under the supervision of III DC student in-charge Salva Fernandez and HOD Dr. Ajesh K. Zachariah.
