International Moon Day Celebration

The Department of Physics, Mar Thoma College, Tiruvalla is celebrating International Moon Day on 27th July 2026 at the Media Centre with the theme “A Voyage to Space: A Mission for Humanity.” The programme aims to commemorate humanity’s achievements in lunar exploration while inspiring students to develop a deeper interest in astronomy, space science, and scientific research.

The celebration features engaging presentations by undergraduate Physics students, who will share insights into various aspects of the Moon, lunar missions, space exploration, and the scientific significance of Earth’s natural satellite. The student presenters are:

Juan George Roy and Kevin Kuruvila Eapen (II B.Sc. Honours Physics)
Abner Sam Jose (III B.Sc. Honours Physics)
Niranjana P. A. (I B.Sc. Honours Physics)

The programme provides an excellent platform for students to enhance their presentation skills while fostering scientific curiosity and appreciation for recent advancements in space exploration.

Thampy Kurian Endowment Fund- Excellence Award

Mr. Thampy Kurien a former student of Mar Thoma College, Tiruvalla and a resident of 43 Delaney Street, Stow, Massachusetts 01775 USA endowed a corpus amount Rs. 15,000,00 as gratitude to his alma mater. Endowment has been made with the sole aim of promoting meaningful academic pursuit among students thereby enhancing name and fame of Mar Thoma College, Tiruvalla among other premier institutions in the country and abroad. Endowment is meant for one student in second or third year of four year UG (Honours) programme or second year of UG degree programme and one student in the second year of any PG programme. The total number of awardees in a year shall be limited to two.
