International Outreach Programme on ‘The Science of Self-Sustaining Biospheres’

The Postgraduate and Research Department of Botany and IQAC, Mar Thoma College, Tiruvalla, in partnership with AK’ Tenamit – The Guatemalan Tomorrow Fund, presented the first session of their International Outreach Programme, “The Science of Self-Sustaining Biospheres,” on January 24, 2026. This knowledge-sharing initiative brought expertise from India to Guatemalan indigenous communities through hands-on workshops focussing on biosphere design, community ecology, and youth-driven citizen science. The programme was led by Mr Kiran Kannan and Ms Manjusha Remith, while Dr Sonia Anna Zachariah (India) and Ms Linda Bedoya Tiul (Guatemala) served as the coordinators. By connecting diverse regions, the event successfully fostered meaningful global connections and promoted inclusive learning and sustainability.
