Industrial Visit to M/s. Tasty World Pvt. Ltd – Bioscience

As part of the academic curriculum, the final year M.Sc. Microbiology and Biotechnology students conducted an industrial visit to the Tasty World Pvt. Ltd. Chikkamagaluru during 31st January to 4th February 2025. The team comprised of 29 post graduate students accompanied by two faculty members. The itinerary included visits to food factories, historical sites and cultural heritages of Chikkamagaluru, Belore, and Coorg, Karnataka state. The factory visit to M/s. Tasty World Pvt. Ltd. held on 1st February, provided a unique opportunity for the students to bridge the gap between theoretical classroom learning and the realities of industrial environments. Established in 2000, Tasty World specializes in producing 27 different varieties of South Indian snacks, including Chakli, Mixture, Kodubale, and Wafers. Their products are not only popular across India but also have a global presence, with exports to various countries. Additionally, the company serves as a trusted third-party manufacturer for renowned brands such as Haldiram’s and MKR. The visit provided an insightful overview of the factory’s operations, highlighting their specialization in bakery and confectioneries. The exposure to stringent quality control measures and hygiene protocols helped the students to understand the importance of maintaining high standards in food production. The group also traveled to Belore, a region renowned for agro-based industries, and Coorg before returning to college via Wayanad and Kozhikode. The student industrial visit to Chikkamagaluru and Belore proved to be an enlightening and enriching experience for the participants. Additionally, interactions with industry professionals during the visit enhanced students’ understanding of career opportunities and challenges in these fields. Overall, the trip served as a catalyst for personal growth, professional development, and academic enrichment for all participants involved.
