Two Days Taxonomic Training in Molluscs and Marine Fishes

Post Graduate and Research Department of Zoology, Mar Thoma College conducted “Marine Diversity Workshop”- Two-Day Taxonomic Training in Mollusc and Marine Fishes sponsored by Kerala State Biodiversity Board (KSBB) on 10 and 11 February, 2025. Aim of the workshop was to explore the key identification techniques, species characteristics and preservation methods of molluscs and marine fishes and hands-on training in the taxonomic identification of molluscs and marine fishes. Students of the department and nearby colleges together with the faculty members attended the workshop. Prof. Koshy Thomas, Principal-in-charge, School of Applied Life Sciences, Chuttippara, Pathanamthitta inaugurated the sessions presided by Dr. Mathew Varkey T.K., Principal, Mar Thoma College, Tiruvalla. The technical sessions based on the tools and techniques in fishes and molluscan taxonomy and hands-on training were led by Mrs. Teena Jayakumar T. K. (NBFGR, Lucknow) and Dr. Ravinesh R. (CMLRE, Cochin) respectively.
