Mastermind Moments (M2 24)
The Department of Chemistry has introduced a new academic initiative named Mastermind Moments, designed to facilitate interactions between students and both national and international scientists. Chapter II of M2 24 was a noteworthy academic event, highlighting a distinguished speaker from Slovenia and fostering an in-depth discussion on the latest advancements in chemistry and nano science.
The event started at 9.30 AM on 30th August, with a warm welcome from Dr. Ajesh K. Zachariah, Head, Dept. of Chemistry. The main event was the talk by Dr. Domen Paul, Young Researcher, Josef Stefan Institute, Slovenia. Topic was Surface Engineering on the Sunny Side of Mountains: A Nanotechnology Perspective. The session was chaired by Dr. Josmin P. Jose, Coordinator of the programme.
Dr. Paul graduated from II. Gimnazija Maribor in 2012. He earned his bachelor’s degree in physics in 2016 and his master’s degree in 2018 from the University of Maribor. Domen then worked as a researcher at the Slovenian Tool and Die Development Centre (TECOS) for a year, focusing on plasma systems. In 2019, he started his Ph.D. in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at the International Postgraduate School of Jožef Stefan and worked as a young researcher at the Jožef Stefan Institute’s Department of Surface Engineering (F4). After completing his Ph.D. in 2024, he continued his work in the F4 department, specializing in experimental plasma systems and utilizing various analytical instruments
