Methodological Innovations: Enhancing Research Quality and Impact
Post Graduate and Research Department of English, Comparative Literature Research Study Centre (CLRSC), Mar Thoma College, Tiruvalla hosted a One Day Workshop, ‘Methodological Innovations: Enhancing Research Quality and Impact’, on January 30, 2025. The workshop aimed to equip research scholars, faculty members and students with the knowledge and skills necessary to design and conduct research studies in English Language and Literature. The programme commenced with a prayer song by the Department Choir. Dr Susan Thomas, Head of the Department, welcomed the gathering.
Prof. (Dr.) Neetha N.Nair, Director of Research inaugurated the workshop by delivering an inspirational speech on the principles of research design, selection of research methods etc. Dr. Ansa C Prasad, Co-ordinator of the workshop proposed vote of thanks for the inaugural session.
The first session was conducted by Ms. Elena Sajan, Assistant Professor, St. Thomas College, Ranni on ‘Strategic Approaches to Research Methodology’. The speaker provided valuable insights to equip students with the skills to design and conduct research in English Literature. Ms. Preethi Anu Jose proposed vote of thanks for the session. The second session began with an introduction by Ms.Aleena Joyel. The session was led by Mr.Rijo John, Assistant Professor, Catholicate College, Pathanamthitta on ‘Transforming Research with AI Tools’. The speaker provided an overview of various AI-powered tools that can aid researchers in task such as literature review, data analysis and manuscript writing. Gideon Thomas E Varghese’s vote of thanks concluded the workshop on a positive note, emphasising the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing in advancing research excellence.
Attendees appreciated the hands-on activities of the workshop, which facilitated active learning , fostered collaboration and enabled participants to apply theoretical concepts to practical research scenarios.
