MTC – EU 1st Alumni Meet

Mar Thoma College – EU (UESI) Unit, initiated its 1st Alumni Meet on 28th June, 2025 at the college chapel from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM bringing forth a special gathering of the former students from MTC EU. Registrations of the participants were made available at college from 9:00 to 9:30 am followed by the prayer song, “Nanniyode Njan” sung by the MTC EU Choir. Afterwards, the program was solicited by an opening prayer by Rev. Mathews Abraham. In order to honour the memory and service of Prof. P P Thomas (the former faculty of Dept of English) and Rev. Mathew Thomas (former student, president of MTC EU); a moment of tribute was paid, whose dedication and vision had shaped the college community, and whose contributions continue to inspire till date. Dr. Koshy John, former professor in the Dept of Chemistry who served as the director of college EU, graciously delivered the welcome address and welcomed all the esteemed guests and alumni. The MTC EU choir delighted the gathering with a special song. Prof. Dr. Mathew Varkey T. K., Principal, addressed the gathering and shared his remarks. The day’s key note address was delivered by His Grace Rt. Rev. Dr. Euyakim Mar Coorilos Suffragan Metropolitan, The Manager, Mar Thoma College, Tiruvalla. Thirumeni illuminated the audience with his enriching and valuable insights and adding lasting impacts on our thoughts. Ms. Anita Mariam John of 2nd BA History mesmerized the audience with a beautiful song. Prof. Jolly Thomas, Mr. Sujoy Jacob and Mr. Sam Thankan extended their warm felicitations, encouraging and challenging us to introduce Jesus to others thereby standing together in unity through UESI. Dr. Sunil M Thomas, Chairman of South-Central Region, proposed the vote of thanks encouraging one to move forward in service, sacrifice and suffering in Christ and to be filled with faith and not fear.
The sharing session was led by master. Justin Alex Thomas, giving the alumni a platform to share their memories, what made them to join EU and how it helped them to pursue their future. It was indeed a delighting session, which made which made the meet more vibrant and heartening. Dr. Arun Vinod, Dept. of Physics concluded the reunion with a final vote of thanks, deeply thanking the EU proprieties, guests and students who made the session a grant success. Above all, thanking, almighty Jesus for helping each one of us to cherish this event. The senior most EU member among the audience and Rev. John George led the prayer and benediction, respectively, marking an end to the event. Mr. Alex Prasad of 2nd BA English, made the session feel blessed with an amazing solo performance. To make this day memorable, all the members, joined for a photo session, marking the beginning of alumni meet-ups to come. Lunch was provided and served to all the guests who came, at the college canteen.
