National Conference NCSSAA 26

The National Conference on Smart Energy, Sustainable Development, and AI Applications, along with the Prof. Chellamma Mathew Memorial Lecture, was held on 19–20 February 2026 at Mar Thoma College, Tiruvalla, in collaboration with the School of Electronic Systems and Automation, Digital University Kerala. The conference was co-sponsored by the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment (KSCSTE) and HOLMARC OptoMechatronics Ltd. The event aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly affordable and clean energy, sustainable communities, and climate action.
The inaugural session began with a welcome address by Dr. Angel Susan Cherian, followed by the presidential address by Principal Dr. Mathew Varkey T. K. The conference was inaugurated by Rev. Abey T. Mammen. Prof. Philip N. Thomas shared his reminiscences, and felicitations were offered by Prof. (Dr.) M. R. Anantharaman and Prof. (Dr.) Samuel Mathew. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Anju K. Nair.
The first technical session included the Prof. Chellamma Mathew Memorial Lecture delivered by Dr. Suraj Soman(Principal Scientist, CSIR-NIIST). Technical presentations were also delivered by Dr. Christie Thomas Cherian (DUK, Kerala) and Dr. Arun Aravind (Bishop Moor College Mavelikkara)on energy storage–related research. An invited lecture was delivered online by Dr. Nitin Mohan (IIT Kanpur).
The second day featured invited lectures by Prof. (Dr.) Alex P. James (DUK, Kerala) and Dr. Indu Elizabeth (CSIR-NAL Banglore). Technical talks were delivered by Dr. Sabeena M (CUSAT) and Dr. Sreekanth Perumbilavil (Manipal Institute of Applied Physics) on advanced materials and emerging technologies.
Students and research scholars actively participated through oral and poster presentations, showcasing their research work. Ms. Chitra S., Research Scholar from the University of Kerala, received the Best Oral Presentation Award, and Mr. Bino Binoy from CMS College received the Best Poster Presentation Award.
