NOSTOS 2026

The Department of English, Mar Thoma College, Tiruvalla, hosted its alumni meet, Nostos 2026, on January 10, 2026. The meeting fostered reconnections among alumni, faculty, and students. The meeting commenced with a prayer by the department choir, followed by a welcome speech by Dr Susan Thomas, Head of the Department and a presidential address by Prof N M Mathew. The chief guest, Very Rev K S Mathew, delivered an inspiring speech exploring various poets and poetic lines, likely highlighting their significance and relevance to contemporary times. Dr Teena T Elizabeth presented a proposal for Diamond Jubilee projects, followed by the honouring of achievers by Very Rev K S Mathew and Mr Jijo John Varughese. Dr Renjith Joseph delivered a tribute speech honouring Dr Ashley Susan Philip, acknowledging her dedication and service to the department. The department’s newsletter was released by Prof. N. M. Mathew, and alumni shared nostalgic memories of their time at college. The cultural programme featured a solo, group dance and a tableau, representing different ages in literature. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the programme coordinator Dr Ansa C Prasad, expressing gratitude to everyone involved in the reunion and fostering a spirit of camaraderie among the department, alumni and the college.
