Protest Against Violence Towards Women
Mar Thoma College held a peaceful protest on August 22nd, 2024, in response to the brutal murder of a 31-year-old doctor at Kolkata’s R.G. Kar Hospital. Organized by the Women’s Cell and Women Empowerment Cell, the protest aimed to raise awareness of violence against women in India.
The event began with a silent procession from the Social Science block to the College Office Quadrangle and concluded with the reading of a Protest Note by a student representative. Students, teachers, and staff participated in solidarity with nationwide protests, emphasizing the need for action against gender-based violence.
