Round Table with Alumnus – Talk 1
The Post Graduate and Research Department of Chemistry, Mar Thoma College, organized the first in a series of “Round Table with Alumnus” talks on the 30th of August 2024. This event featured Mr. Jomon George Joy, an esteemed alumnus currently pursuing his PhD at Kangwon National University, South Korea. The session provided an opportunity for students, faculty, and attendees to engage with Mr. Joy’s academic journey and research experiences.
The session was initiated by the Head of the Department Dr. Ajesh K. Zachariah, who welcomed Mr. Jomon George Joy and highlighted the importance of alumni engagement in academic development.
Mr. Jomon George Joy delivered a comprehensive talk on his research at Kangwon National University, focusing on cutting-edge topics in chemistry and his experiences working in an international academic environment. He discussed various research methodologies, challenges in pursuing a PhD abroad, and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in advancing scientific research. Following the presentation, the attendees participated in an engaging Q&A session. He addressed questions regarding graduate study opportunities in South Korea, tips for securing international scholarships, and advice on building a successful research career.
