
Silver Jubilee of the Research Centre – Department of Physics

As part of the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Research Centre of the Department of Physics, a One-Day Seminar and Oral Presentation Competition was organized on Monday, 6 October 2025, at 9:30 a.m. in the Seminar Hall, Dr. Alexander Mar Thoma Memorial Golden Jubilee Block, Mar Thoma College, Tiruvalla.
Dr. Angel Susan Cherian, Head of the Department welcomed the gathering and the meeting was presided over by Dr. Mathew Varkey T.K., Principal of the college. The inaugural address was delivered by the Chief Guest, Prof. Dr. Nandakumar Kalarikkal, Fulbright Fellow and Director, International Centre for Ultrafast Studies, Mahatma Gandhi University.
On this occasion, Ph.D. awardees from the Research Centre were honoured. Felicitation speeches were delivered by Prof. Dr. Samuel Mathew, Former Head of the Department, and Mr. Thomas Koshy, Treasurer of the College. Dr. Noble P. Abraham, Coordinator, proposed the Vote of Thanks.
During the Keynote Address session, Dr. Anju K. Nair, Faculty of Physics, introduced the keynote speaker.
Prof. Dr. Nandakumar Kalarikkal then delivered a talk on “Electroactive Polymer Nanocomposites – A New Paradigm for Energy Security Applications.” The talk highlighted the importance of polymer nanocomposites and their emerging possibilities in the field of energy security.
In the afternoon, the Oral Presentation Competition was conducted. Students presented their research papers, and the best presentations were awarded cash prizes and certificates for first and second positions.
The entire programme was successfully conducted with the wholehearted cooperation of the faculty members and research scholars of the Department of Physics.
