Skill Training Programme: Hands-on Session on Candle Making
The Women Empowerment Cell of Mar Thoma College, Tiruvalla successfully organised a Skill Training Programme – Hands-on Session on Candle Making on 16 December at 11.00 a.m. in Room No. A9.
The programme was conducted with the objective of empowering women students by equipping them with practical skills that can support self-employment and entrepreneurial initiatives. The session provided an excellent platform for participants to gain hands-on experience in candle making, an activity that combines creativity with income-generation potential.
The session was led by Ms. Karuna Elsy Thomas, an experienced instructor in candle making. She began the programme by introducing the basics of candle making, including the types of wax used, moulds, wicks, colours, fragrances, and safety precautions. This was followed by a detailed demonstration of the candle-making process.
Students actively participated in the hands-on session and learned to prepare different varieties of decorative candles. The instructor guided the participants at every stage, clarifying doubts and encouraging creativity. The session was highly interactive, and the participants showed great enthusiasm throughout the programme.
