SWACHHATA HI SEVA – NCC

The National Cadet Corps of Mar Thoma College, Tiruvalla has been a part of SWACHHATA HI SEVA Campaign 2024 in collaboration with Indian Railways at Thiruvalla Railway station, on September 24, 2024. As part of the Swachhta Hi Seva campaign, NCC cadets organized a cleanliness drive at Thiruvalla Railway Station. The initiative aimed to promote cleanliness and environmental awareness within the community. The programme was inaugurated by the chief health inspector Dhanya V in the presence of Station Master Mr Baiju. The cadets actively cleaned various areas of the railway station, including platforms and waiting areas. They collected litter and debris, ensuring a hygienic environment for commuters.
An exhibition was set up showcasing art and educational displays made from plastic waste materials. This aimed to raise awareness about the impact of plastic pollution and promote recycling practices. Participants, including station staff and commuters, took a pledge to maintain cleanliness and contribute to a sustainable environment. The cadets planted trees around the station premises, enhancing green cover and promoting biodiversity. This activity was aligned with the campaign’s goal of fostering a cleaner and greener future. About 55 NCC cadets had became a part of this campaign. The involvement of NCC cadets not only showcased their commitment to service but also inspired others to take part in such initiatives.
