White Cane Rally

The National Service Scheme (NSS) units (25(A), 25(B) & 510) of Mar Thoma College, Tiruvalla, in association with the Kerala Federation of the Blind, Pathanamthitta, organized a White Cane Rally on the occasion of International White Cane Safety Day on 15th October 2025.

The rally was held at KSRTC Bus Stand, Tiruvalla. The flag-off ceremony was performed jointly by Dr. Anitha George Varghese and Dr. Sreelatha P.V., NSS Programme Officers.

Abubacker delivered the welcome address. The rally witnessed active participation from visually challenged individuals, accompanied by Dr. P.J. Varghese, NSS Programme Officer, and NSS volunteers of Mar Thoma College, who joined the walk blindfolded as a mark of solidarity.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Abitha Kabeer, District Secretary, Kerala Federation of the Blind, Pathanamthitta.

The programme aimed to spread awareness on the rights, mobility, and independence of the visually impaired and to promote social inclusion and empathy among the public.
