World Ayurveda Day 2025

The Medical Club of Mar Thoma College, Tiruvalla, in association with the Ayurveda Medical Association of India, Pathanamthitta District Committee, celebrated World Ayurveda Day 2025 on 24th September 2025 at 11:30 AM in the Mini Conference Hall of the College.

The meeting was presided over by Dr. Mathew Varkey T. K., Principal, Mar Thoma College, Tiruvalla. The programme began with a prayer song, followed by a welcome address delivered by Dr. Sunitha A. Philip, Convener of the Medical Club.

The resource person, Dr. Harikumar B., Medical Superintendent, KNM NSS Ayurveda Hospital, Vallamkulam, Tiruvalla, led an informative session on the topic “Ayurveda for People and Planet.”

In his address, Dr. Harikumar explained that Ayurveda is a holistic Indian healing system that emphasizes balance between the body, mind, and spirit to promote overall well-being. He highlighted Ayurveda’s focus on personalized diet, lifestyle, and herbal remedies, aimed at maintaining health and preventing diseases rather than merely treating symptoms. The speaker also stressed the importance of daily routines, stress management, and seasonal adaptations to sustain wellness. He advised participants to consult qualified practitioners before using Ayurvedic medicines, as certain formulations may interact with conventional treatments. The session also emphasized that physical exercise is vital to maintaining good health.

Students actively participated in the discussion, making the session highly engaging and informative.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Ansa C. Prasad, Assistant Professor, Department of English. The programme came to an end at 12:45 PM.
