World Environment Day Celebration

The English Literary Association (ELA), Department of English, Mar Thoma College, Tiruvalla, observed World Environment Day on 15 June 2026 at the English Portico. The highlight of the programme was the talk titled “Preserving the Present” delivered by Ms. Shanthi Krishna, Research Scholar, Department of Botany. The speaker discussed the importance of environmental conservation, sustainable practices, and the role of individuals in safeguarding natural resources. The session encouraged the audience to adopt environmentally responsible habits and contribute towards a greener future. As part of the observance, Dr. Neema Susan Mathews, President, ELA, led the participants in an Environment Day pledge, reaffirming their commitment to protecting and preserving the environment.

As part of the celebrations, a nature exploration programme-Monsoon Trails: Into the Emerald Embrace of Gavi Ecotourism, and a movie screening and discussion on environmental themes are scheduled to be conducted in the coming weeks. These programmes aim to foster ecological awareness and deepen students’ engagement with environmental issues.
