Effacing a Culture of Extinction: Exploration of Green Philosophies and Representations

The Department of English in collaboration with The Kerala State Higher Education Council organized an online International Lecture Series ‘Effacing a Culture of Extinction: Exploration of Green Philosophies and Representations’ from 29-11-2020 to 01-12-2020. Dr R Michael Fisher, Founder-Director, In Search of Fearlessness Research Institute and The Fearology Institute, University of British Columbia, and Adjunct Faculty in Werklund School of Education in University of Calgary, Canada, delivered the Dr A V Varughese Memorial Lecture titled ‘Ecology and Fear OR Fear and Ecology.’ The second Lecture by G M Pillai I A S, Founder-Director General at World Institute of Sustainable Energy (WISE), Pune, and Former Principal Secretary to Government of Maharashtra was on ‘Climate Fiction and Ecocriticism.’ The third Lecture of the series was ‘Renewal Of Our Mind, Towards a Green Deal’ by Dr D E Benet, Vice Principal and Associate Professor in English, National College, Trichy. Dr Remi Cherian George and Prof Susmitha Ann Varghese were the convenors of the International Lecture Series.
