World Space Week
The Physics Association celebrated World Space Week on October 8, 2024 with the focus theme “Space and Climate Change”, in alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goal 13 on Climate Action. Principal Dr. Mathew Varkey T. K. inaugurated the celebrations in a meeting presided over by Dr. Angel Susan Cherian, Association President and HoD.
Ms. Elizabeth Thomas, Research Scholar, Department of Physics delivered a talk on “Sun influencing our daily life” at 11 am in the Seminar Hall, Dr. Alexander Mar Thoma Memorial Golden Jubilee Block.
A poster exhibition was also arranged in connection with the focus theme of World Space Week 2024.
An intercollegiate presentation competition was arranged at 2 pm. Teams from various colleges and different departments of Mar Thoma College, Tiruvalla enthusiastically participated in the competition. Mr. Daniel Mathew, Assumption College, Changanassery won the first prize. Ms. Hanna Rachel Shibu won the second prize. Ms. Susan Kuriakose (Asst. Professor, Dept. of Botany), Mr. Jijo John Varghese (Asst. Professor, Dept. of English) and Ms. Elizabeth Thomas (Research Scholar, Dept. of Physics) were the judges for the competition. Mr. Aditya Suresh proposed Vote of Thanks. Dr. Noble P. Abraham was the coordinator of the events in connection with World Space Week.
